TikTok in talks with Indian govt to come back

The new IT regulations in India and the decision of President Joe Biden to overturn the order of Donald Trump’s predecessor to prohibit TikTok in the USA have restored ByteDance Inc.’s “hope and trust” in the Indian market almost one year after the banning of its viral Short Video App.

People acquainted with the company’s affairs said ET that ByteDance wrote to its IT Department earlier this month to point out that, although not operational, it complies with the new intermediate rules. The Chinese firm hopes for an answer, they added.
