To advance AI initiatives, Pichai issues “code red” and contacts Larry Page and Sergey Brin for assistance.Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, asked Larry Page and Sergey Brin for assistance in dealing with ChatGPT.

Google is anxiously awaiting news regarding ChatGPT due of its growing popularity. In order to compete with ChatGPT, the search engine giant would reportedly “show a version of its search engine with chatbot features this year” and offer more than 20 AI-powered goods. At Google I/O in May, all of these products are anticipated to go on sale.

According to the Times, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, requested assistance from Larry Page and Sergey Brin to deal with ChatGPT. The team looked over Google’s AI product strategy and made more recommendations for how to integrate chatbot-like AI features into the Google Search engine. The fact that Google extended an invitation to its founders shows how seriously its executives are taking AI and ChatGPT.

The story claims that Pichai has “declared code red” to accelerate its objectives for AI development. The business has talked about announcing 20 new products and showing off a ChatGPT-like AI-enabled search engine.

Google pressed the emergency button. After we read news in December that it has no immediate intentions to adopt AI technology, the corporation is having meetings to discuss how to compete with ChatGPT. In a recent all-hands meeting, Google’s head of AI Jeff Dean and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai discussed the rise of ChatGPT, according to CNBC. They claimed that while Google’s AI language models are just as proficient as ChatGPT, the company must proceed “more cautiously than a small startup” due to the “reputational risk” presented by the technology.

This information follows reports from December that stated that despite significant investments in AI technology, Google could not move too quickly due to the “reputational danger” that the technology faced.

Google stated yesterday that it was laying off of 12,000 employees after making large-scale hires during the pandemic and in preparation for the coming recession. In a message to the staff, Pichai explained that the purpose of the layoffs is to make sure that positions and personnel are in line with the company’s primary priorities.
